◽ We’re getting so excited for the newest book from Elisabeth, and wanted to share a few quotes with you! Here are a few sneak peeks from Enneagram Life, coming this fall:
“Life is hard enough without the added mess of not understanding our own proclivities and reactions, especially when we are faced with intense situations, hard seasons, and uncharted waters.”
“Rather than using the Enneagram as a tool for picking your friends, it’s a greater aid to help you love your current friends better and become a better friend yourself.”
“One of the most life-changing gifts the Enneagram has given me is the ability to see people as unhealthy instead of bad, evil, or unable to change.”
You can pre-order this book now and it will come right to your door once it is released on November 1.
◽ This month, we asked the hosts of our sister pages about their favorite vacations. We wanted to hear about their happy places. Is your favorite place among these vacation stories?
▪ From Recah, our 1ishandiknowit host: The trip I just took with my family was my favorite vacation. We road-tripped for 24 days across the USA visiting Yellowstone and multiple national parks and national monuments! While it was so well planned for my Oneness sake, we left room each day for spontaneity and I embraced it. I loved having simple clothing choices and easy meals which took a lot of stress out of each day. All we had to do was execute on the day of!
My favorite place/new happy place was Grand Tetons National Park. I can’t wait to go back!!
▪ From Rachel, our 2ishandiknowit host: I grew up going on so many family road trips and travel that taught me the journey is just as much apart of the vacation as the destination. That being said I did love Hawaii as a destination and my solo trip to Vienna, Austria was amazing.
My happy place? A space with fresh air I can breathe in. Where I can close my eyes and listen to everything around me, then open them and dance like no ones watching. This could be a walk around the block, the top of Mount Rainier, a bridge in Paris, or a trail in a forest.
▪ From Angelene, our 3ishandiknowit host: Disney World is my happy place. We went once when the kids were younger and then in 2021 when they were all young adults. We had such a fantastic time, we all decided to move to the area. Every day can be vacation.💕💕
▪ From Cassandra, our 4ishandiknowit host: Solo vacations are by far the best return on investment! I get to be as spontaneous or as planned out as I’d like. I can change my mind at any moment without negotiation or compromise. I can do exactly what I feel like at any moment with little to no negative consequences. I can follow my interests and go at my own pace. It’s so life giving and restful to be free to explore with no expectations. Alone with my curiosity and wonder for the internal and external world with almost no mundane distractions. I’ve done this many places; from the coast of Maine to the desert of California and it never fails to delight me.
▪ From Kellyn, our 5ishandiknowit host: Hawai’i was amazing. I’ve been wanting to go for 20 years. Filled with rest & slowness & flexibility & spontaneity & freedom. And of course warmth & amazing adventures.
I realized that we almost never go on vacations JUST for us, for our family. We’ve always traveled TO & FOR others & even the tiny, cheap weekend adventures feel so life-giving when we don’t have an agenda. So I’m leaning into that kind of rest in this season.
▪ From Angee, our 6ishandiknowit: My favorite vacations have to involve nature or immersion in the culture. It makes me feel grounded. Going to Alaska was one of my all time favorites followed by my 40th birthday trip back to where I grew up and sharing that trip with my brother. Seeing our family home after being away for 30 years was special.
▪ From Nikola, our 7ishandiknowit host: You are asking a 7 to pick a favorite vacation spot?! That’s like asking a parent who’s your favorite kid 😉 I’ve learned over the years I best vacation and relax in nature! It’s the place I feel closest to God and the place I feel at ease and renewed. I’m going to the Redwood Forest this month! I loved Hawaii last year- I already want to go back! Now traveling is different for me- that’s where I see and do! I love going to other countries to travel to experience what life is like for others- Israel & England are some of my favs.
▪ From Danielle, our 8ishandiknowit host: It’s funny because the vacations that stick out as my favorite are ones that had significant things go wrong!
One such time was the camping trip in Alaska as a kid where it poured the whole time and I touched the side of the tent getting us ALL wet. I’m also remembering Disneyland for my sisters 30th bday where we landed in LA, picked up the rental car and immediately got into a car accident that wrecked our rental 🙈
It’s like the greater the challenge the more opportunity to get through and find the silver linings, great stories, and random joys!
▪ From Alison, our 9ishandiknowit host: Last summer, we were gifted the chance to stay at a beautiful beach house in the Outer Banks. I cried tears of joy when we entered the house, not realizing that I hadn't believed it wasn't too good to be true, until we were there. It was our first true vacation that wasn't a visit to see family, and it refreshed us more than I'd hoped for. We got to go again this summer, and it was another precious gift to be at the beach every day. The beach is a place I feel close to God, able to hear myself easier, along with so any precious memories tied to beach days.
Take care,
Alison
